Who Is Complaining?

Corrections

Every number on this site is computed from public files by fixed rules. Two kinds of error are possible, and they are handled differently.

Errors in this site's processing

Examples: a company matched to the wrong bank or credit union for its size measure; two spellings of one company shown as separate companies when the CFPB treats them as one; a count that does not match the CFPB's own search for the same dates. Send the page address and what you believe is wrong to hello@whoiscomplaining.com. The target is a reply within five working days. Confirmed errors are fixed in the code and appear at the next daily build. A wrong size match is removed at once, and the page then states that no public size measure is shown.

Disagreement with the underlying record

This site cannot change what is in the CFPB database. A company that believes a complaint was sent to it in error, names the wrong company, or is a duplicate can raise that with the Bureau through its company portal; the CFPB describes the process at consumerfinance.gov/complaint/process. When the Bureau updates its file, the change flows through here at the next build with no action needed.

Names of people

The site is built to exclude any company name that is an individual's name. If a page or table row nonetheless shows a person's name, tell us and it will be removed immediately, ahead of any other review.

What is not a correction

Requests to remove a company because its counts are unwelcome are answered with this policy. The CFPB's caution about company size appears on every page and beside every table for exactly that reason: a large count is expected of a large company.
